MODULE 3 BRIDAL FLORISTRY
4-DAY INTENSIVE COMMERCIAL WEDDING FLORISTRY COURSE
Students need to have successfully completed Module 1 (Flower Arranging) or similar standard before commencing with this course
4-Day Intermediate.
This course will be held over four intensive days.
Time: 10am to 3.30 pm (10.00 to 15.00)

All Materials Supplied
On all courses we provide all fresh flowers, foliage, baskets, bowls, florist foam, wreath bases, ribbon, wire and floral tape and you take home each design you make in class.
It is possible to attend 1 or 2 days of this course. Price 175.00 euro per day

Day 1
Includes:
Introduction theory class to Bridal Floristry.

Purchasing Fresh Flowers and Floral Sundries.

Wholesale cost prices of materials & pricing techniques.

Treatment of fresh flowers material.
Different techniques are taught on the wiring of Roses, Orchids, Lilies and Carnations.
Hands on tuition on how to construct a wired bridal bouquet using a selection of flowers and foliages.
Hands on tuition class on a Wristlet Corsage that is suitable for a Handbag, Debutante, Bridesmaid or the Mother of the Bride.

Instruction class on how to make a selection of Ribbon bows and Pew Ends
Students are provided with step-by-step instructions and an itemised list of the materials required for each wedding design, plus how to cost each design and the commercial selling prices of each presentation.
Day 2
Includes:
Theory / Demonstration class on taking an order for wedding flowers.

Advice on when to order the wedding flowers from your wholesale supplier

How to work out how many flowers and sundries you will require and the wholesale cost and selling prices.

Hands on tuition class in designing a Hand-Tied Bouquet for a Bride, Bridesmaid or Flowergirl incorporating flowers, grasses and foliages.
Hands on tuition class in designing a selection of Buttonholes & Corsages for the Groom, Groomsmen, Mothers, Fathers and Guests attending the wedding.
Hands on tuition class on a Peace Rose or a single flower in cello.

Students are provided with step-by-step instructions and an itemised list of the materials required for each design, plus how to cost each design and the wholesale selling prices of each presentation.
Day 3:
Includes:
Theory class on designing a wedding brochure and business cards.

Advice on advertising and taking a stand at a Wedding Fair.

Introduction to the pros and cons of using an Oasis Bridal Holders for Wedding Bouquets.
Hands on tuition class in designing a Bride’s Shower Bouquet using a selection of flowers and foliages.
Hands on tuition class on how to make a Flowergirl’s Floral Wand

Theory/Demonstration of a Floral Hoop and Flowergirl's basket.
Students will also be provided with detailed step-by-step instructions and an itemised list of the materials required for each design, plus how to cost and the selling prices of each presentation.
Day 4:
Hands on tuition class in designing a Contemporary Wedding Bouquet.
Tuition class in designing a Flowergirl’s Pomander (Ball of flowers).
Students will also be provided with detailed step-by-step instructions and an itemised list of the materials required for each design, the wholesale cost, plus the selling prices of each presentation.
Revision questions and theory test.
This course will be held over four intensive days.

MODULE 4 ADVANCED BRIDAL COURSE
This course will be held over four intensive days. Kay's students must have successfully completed Module 1 & 3 or similar standard before commencing with this module.
Starting Dates:
Fri/Sat/Sun & Mon 29th, 30th, 31st October and 1st November 2010
Price €600.00 includes all flowers and materials.
It is possible to attend 1 or 2 days of this Wedding Course
Price 175.00 per day.Day 1: Time: 10am to 3.30pm (10.00 to 15.30)
Includes:
Theory class: Introduction to latest trends and techniques for large waterfall cascading wedding bouquets.
Hands on tuition class in designing a large cascading waterfall wedding bouquet using a wired technique.
Students will also be provided with detailed step-by-step instructions and an itemised list of the materials required for each design, plus how to cost and the selling prices of each presentation.
Day 2: Time: 10am to 3.30pm
Includes:
Theory / Demonstration class on a Large (4-5 ft) Church Pedestal Arrangement.

Hands on tuition class in designing a Floral Pew Display and a Unity Altar Candle Flower Arrangement.
Students will also be provided with detailed step-by-step instructions and an itemised list of the materials required for each design, plus how to cost and the selling prices of each presentation.
Day 3: Time: 10am – 3.30pm
Includes:
Hands on Tuition class in designing a presentation Handtied Bouquet, wrapped in Cello and tissue and how to make it stand in an Aqua Pack (suitable as a thank you bouquet for the Mother of the bride and groom)
Theory / Demonstration class covering Halo Headdress’s for a flowergirl using a wired technique and how to use a glue gun.
Theory / Demonstration class covering a wedding bouquet designed in a Horseshoe form, which can also be designed as a Wedding Crescent Bouquet or Hogarth Curve Bouquet.
Kay's Flower School students will also be provided with step-by-step instructions and an itemised list of the materials required for each design, plus how to cost and the selling prices of each presentation.
Day 4: Time: 10am – 3.30pm
Includes:
Theory class using a mock wedding as an example students will be taught how to work out a wedding flower order, what days to purchase Roses, Lilies and all materials required for a wedding, how much it should cost them, approximately what the recommended selling price would be and all other relevant details.
Hands on tuition class in designing an Advanced Contemporary Wedding Display.

Demonstration class on Church, Hotel and Reception flower arrangements .
Revision questions and theory test. If a bridal student has an order for a wedding, they are more than welcome to bring in the details and a tutor will go through it with them and give them advice on what they will need to purchase and how much to charge the bride.
Students will also be provided with step-by-step instructions and an itemised list of the materials required for each design, plus how to cost and the selling prices of each presentation.
Kay's Flower School offers a Free back-up service for bridal students who have completed this course and they are welcome to email a tutor for advice on future weddings they may have.
All Materials Supplied:
At Kay's we provide all the materials, such as fresh flowers, foliage, baskets, bowls, florist foam, wreath bases, ribbon, wire and floral tape and you take home each design you make in class.
On all courses please bring:
A Packed Lunch, or lunch can be purchased in Local Shops & Café’s

To keep the flowers fresh the room in winter is cool (Not freezing) so we advise students to wear warm comfortable clothes.

Certificate of completion given upon successful completion of this course.
Our flower arranging, bridal floristry and sympathy floristry can be covered over four intensive days attended during the week or two weekends two Fridays and two Saturdays. Students do not need to have any previous flower arranging experience.
All courses start with an introduction to Purchasing, Costing, Techniques of Assembly and the recommended selling prices of designs.
If you are a complete Novice or your experience is dabbling at home or self trained from books we recommend all students to start with Module (1) Commercial Flower Arranging.

The tutors at Kay's Flower School have a vast experience and knowledge of the daily running, the pitfalls and challenges faced by students intending to work from home in a florist or open their own florist business.
The tutors at Kay's Flower School have an informal approach to teaching that makes the classes thoroughly enjoyable yet informative at the same time. Displays are first demonstrated and students then copy under supervision. All materials and flowers are supplied and displays are students own to take home.
The aim of the Kay's Flower School is to make Commercial Floristry and Flower Arranging more accessible to everyone.
Individuals who simply enjoy flowers in their home, florist who wish to improve their floristry skills and those who may have an ambition to make floristry a career.
Our students are in demand from Flower Shops all over Ireland who require staff and a many of our past students are now running successful business around Ireland
Places are limited on each course and bookings are only confirmed on receipt of a booking deposit.
A place may be reserved by phone/email and confirmed with a €200 deposit. Please make cheques payable to KAY’S. Deposit and Course Fees are Non-refundable. Balance is payable at least one week in advance of commencement date.
FAS & C.E. Supervisors may book students onto a course in advance. They will be sent an application form and invoice to be returned to the school before the student attends a course.

WHAT IS COMMERCIAL BRIDAL FLORISTRY?
With Bridal Floristry you need to be able to suggest ideas to the Bride for the shape and design of her bouquet, the type of flowers to compliment her dress and they must be able to work out how many flowers are needed for each design.
Students will learn how to create a shopping list for the wholesalers and how much approximately the flowers, sundries will cost you?
Students learn what day’s to purchase their wedding flowers and how to treat specific flowers like Roses, Orchids, Gerberas, and Lilies.
At the Kay's Flower School students learn how to make each wedding design using step-by-step instructions, and are supplied with an itemized list of materials of the most popular wedding flowers needed for a wedding.
At Kay’s we advise students how to sell themselves and how to design a wedding price list and have the confidence and knowledge to take on a wedding order. Kay’s School provides full back up service for all future weddings.
Because Kay's Flower Arranging and Floristry School is an independent business we teach you all the tricks of the trade and our aim is to support and advise students on opening and managing a floristry business, however many of our past students are working from home as freelance florist.
