At Kay's School Of Floristry we can advise students on how to deal with customer and trade enquires, where and when opportunities arise to create more business and the best way to deal with these situations.

Because Kay’s School is an independent school and are not connected to any flower shop or wholesalers this gives us the freedom to tell you all the tricks of the trade you never read about in books. We show you the Short Cuts, tell you the Trade Secrets plus how make profits from your skills. Our aim is to support and advise students on opening and managing a floristry business or indeed working from home as a freelance florist.

WORKING AS A FLORIST

At a job interview students must be prepared to make an Arrangement, Hand Tied Bouquet and a Sympathy Tribute. A florist work tends to be seasonal. The quietest time is in the summer when work mainly stems from Weddings and Funerals. November until April is the busiest time, these Months include Christmas, St Valentines Day, Mothers Day and Easter. Almost every town in Ireland has a Florist, so this is a good time to look for work, The rest of the year ticks along with Weddings, Births, Anniversaries, Birthdays and Funerals.

Many trained and experienced florist go on to set up their own shop. We recommend students to have good practical shop experience before contemplating opening up their own Florist Shop.

On completion of modules 1,2,3, and 4 we have been very successful in placing our students on work experience in florist shops or as job opportunities arise we send suitable students forward for an interview. Many of Kay's Flower School past students are now working in Florist Shops or working from home on a commercial basis.

We have numerous students who first trained in Dublin at Kay's Flower School who eventually opened their own Florist Shops or are working in Florist shops throughout Ireland.
