If you have successfully completed all four modules of Floristry now is the time to put your skills into practice and gain that necessary speed which is required in Flower shop.

Some of our past students who now have successful businesses often require the services of a Kay’s trained Florist or are willing to offer shop placement for them to gain speed and experience.

FUNDING and GRANTS

GRANTS TOWARDS FLORISTRY COURSES
You may be entitled to funding.
Due to the amount of inquires Kay’s School of Floristry have received from students asking are our courses covered by Social Welfare, Fas etc. training/education. We have compiled a list of information of the state agencies that provide funding.
Depending on individuals’ circumstances. If you are unemployed are looking to update your skills or return to education and receiving Job Seekers Allowance or benefits you need to register at your local FAS office in order access funding.
Local Employment Services, known as LES (Obair) offer a wide range of services from career planning to job searching and they can advise you if you are entitled to funding and how and where to get it. The Social Welfare or FAS may refer you to a jobs facilitator
Important
Before you look for funding, it is very important that you have done some research into the course you are requesting funding for. When applying you will need to be conscious that the course will enhance your career or employment prospects (working in a Flower shop), or lead to self employment. (Starting your own Florist business)


If you wish to apply for a grant please contact the school to issue you with a Quotation, which you can bring to your appointment with Placement/Training Officers. Please make sure you have researched the courses you wish to attend. Contact one of the Tutors if you have any questions.

It is a necessity during times of recession to develop your skills and education. It is an Employers’ Market and they are recruiting only the most highly skilled & qualified people.  It is imperative that you consider your career path, opting for one that will lead you to employment or self-employment and one that will start you on your educational journey.
At Kay’s School of Floristry we can offer you advice and guidance on career choices within the Florist industry.  There are various agencies that can also offer career guidance for all career paths and help you to make an informed decision.  These agencies also offer some funding for training and education, depending on the personal circumstances of the applicant you may be entitled to help.

Local Employment Service Networks
This organisation provides a range of services to the local community focusing on the provision of practical support, advice, guidance and information relating to employment, training and return to work and welfare rights options. They have been operating since 1996 and to date over 280,000 people have registered with them to use their services. It is a free and confidential service. The Local Employment Service is a community-based organisation set up under Area Partnerships and funded through FAS which provides a free, voluntary and confidential service for local residents where our response is tailored to meet local needs. If you are interested in any of the services or programmes they have on offer you are advised to call into any of their twenty six offices around Ireland for more information.

There are a range of allowance schemes for job seekers moving from Social Welfare to work, training or education.
Back to Work Allowance Scheme
The Back to Work Allowance Scheme is paid to people on certain Social Welfare payments as an incentive to take up employment or return to work.
Back to Work (Enterprise) Allowance
The Back to Work Enterprise Allowance encourages unemployed people, lone parents and people getting Disability Allowance or Blind Person's Pension to take up self-employment.
Part-time Job Incentive Scheme
The Part-time Job Incentive Scheme allows certain long-term unemployed people to take up part-time work.
Family Income Supplement
Family Income Supplement (FIS) is a weekly tax-free payment for families, including one-parent families, at work on low pay.
