MODULE 2
COMMERCIAL SYMPATHY AND HANDTIED BOUQUETS
4-DAY INTENSIVE COMMERCIAL COURSE
Flowers touch the emotions of other peoples' lives. Customers ordering funeral tributes are often relatives or close friends of the deceased and may be emotionally upset. As a florist, you will need to be sympathetic and understanding.
At Kay’s Flower School we explain the procedure a Florist needs in taking a customer's order and the recommended selling prices of each base. Notes and detail instructions are provided.
Because Kay's School of Floristry is an independent business and are not connected with any flower shop or wholesalers we teach you all the tricks of the trade and our aim is to support and advise students on opening and managing a floristry business, however many of our past students are working from home as freelance florist.
We make it easy the way we will teach you step by step how to create artistic traditional and modern sympathy floral designs and the techniques that professional a florist's use.
Module 2 includes advanced design techniques on Funeral Tributes and Hand-Tied Bouquets in Aqua Packs. Students are taught all aspects and designs of Sympathy Tributes. The Wholesale purchase price of Wreath Bases, Quality and Quantity of Flowers and Foliage to use.
Over the four days students will have hands on practical experience on the following designs, Eternal Circle, Textured Floral Wreath, Round or Heart Wreath edged with pleated ribbon ( Students learn how to pleat florist ribbon) with a crescent floral spray arrangement, a Sympathy Rose in cello and a Funeral/Coffin Spray.
To maximize the retail sales for a Florist Business, all students master the technique of Hand Tied Bouquets using new up to date concepts of wrapping in Aqua Packs, (bubble of water) and they will learn to incorporate bear/steel grass or ting tings.
Students are taught an array of techniques in wrapping with tissue and cello and how to make a large florist bow to put the finishing touches to their completed bouquet.
Kay's School Tutors will give step-by-step instructions and demonstrate the following designs. A Sympathy Heart Wreath edged with ribbon incorporating a floral spray A grouped or textured Sympathy Cross Tribute and how to do a floral initial on a Sympathy Pillow or Cushion Wreath.
As a team together the students assemble and decorate "The Gates of Heaven" tribute and they also learn how to design modern foliage textured wreaths using a selection of retail and garden foliage.

Certificate of completion given upon successful completion of this course.
This course can be attended Monday to Thursday or two Fridays and two Saturdays.

All Materials Supplied
At Kay's we provide all the materials, such as fresh flowers, foliage, baskets, bowls, florist foam, wreath bases, ribbon, wire and floral tape and you take home each design you make in class.
We have students from all walks of life. You need absolutely no previous experience in flower arranging. Age and standard of education is not important, all you need is a desire to learn.
On all courses please bring:

A Packed Lunch, or lunch can be purchased in Local Shops & Café’s

A large Notebook, Biro's and colored pencils

A Florist Scissors, and a camera

Plastic sleeves and folders for handouts.

To keep the flowers fresh the room in winter is cool (Not freezing) so we advise students to wear warm comfortable clothes.
After completing this module we recommend that students proceed to Bridal Floristry Module 3

WHAT IS COMMERCIAL SYMPATHY FLORISTRY?
In Kay's floristry and flower arranging courses, we show you how you can earn extra income selling your flower arrangements from home. One of the benefits are the overheads are low, and you can start in a small way with a minimum amount of stock.
When customers think of wreaths a “round floral” is the one that normally comes to their mind. A good florist must be able to give the customer the option of a choice designs like Hearts, Crosses, Cushion, Pillows, Gates of Heaven, Vacant Chairs, Mam, Dad, Pint of Guinness, Cars, Bikes, Trains, Teddies, Chaplets etc.
Each design needs a specific base, which a commercial florist will be able to purchase wholesale or create and they will need to know the wholesale cost of each base.
At Kay’s Flower School our students are taught how to edge the base with pleated ribbon or foliage, they learn how position a spray onto their design and how many flowers they will need to buy in the wholesale and how much should they charge their customers for each design
