WORKSHOPS 2010

Be Prepared for Christmas, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day

Master Class in Hand-Tied Bouquets

This is a morning class for students who wish to learn how to master the technique of making Handtied Bouquets for Christmas, Valentines Day, Mothers Day and special occasions.

To maximise the retail sales for a florist business all students learn to master the technique of Handtied Bouquets using up to date concepts of wrapping bouquets in Cello, Tissue and Aqua Packs, (bubble of water) incorporating bear/steel grass or ting tings.

Handtied bouquets are sure to make a lasting impression. When they are skillfully arranged, they will stand alone and your costumer can simply place then into their favourite vase.

Time: One Morning from 10am to 1-30pm. approximate

Commencement Dates:

Tuesday morning 13th April 2010
Saturday morning 15th May 2010

WORKING AS A FLORIST

At a job interview students must be prepared to make an Arrangement, Hand Tied Bouquet and a Sympathy Tribute. A florist work tends to be seasonal. The quietest time is in the summer when work mainly stems from Weddings and Funerals. October until Easter is the busiest time, these months include Christmas, St Valentines Day, Mothers Day and Easter. Every small town in Ireland has a Florist, so this is a good time to look for work, The rest of the year ticks along with Weddings, Births, Anniversaries, Birthdays, and Funerals.

Many trained and experienced florist go on to set up their own shop. We recommend students to have good practical shop experience before contemplating opening up their own Florist Shop

In the past Kay’s Flower School students who have completed modules 1,2,3 and 4 we have been very successful in placing our students on work experience in florist shops or as job opportunities arise we send suitable students forward for an interview.

Many of Kay's past students are now working in Florist Shops or working from home on a commercial basis. We have numerous students who first trained in Dublin at Kay’s School of Floristry have eventually opened their own Florist Shops or are working in Florist shops throughout Ireland.
